Northeast pattern change around the corner?

The only constant about the weather is change. Even the most grueling winter pattern must eventually succumb to warmer weather. This change doesn’t necessarily happen quietly, however. Historically speaking, monster snow storms can literally be the breaking point. This is something that has to be watched as we head into valentines day weekend, and while that significant storm is not showing itself just yet-the warm up around the 14th might.

In the world of more short term meteorology we have a nuisance system threatening an area from south Texas all the way up to Maine with a swath of snow, sleet, and even rain (which may en be the primary precipitation type along and south of the I-95 corridor). That would make sense with the positive AO and NAO, but then again, not a lot so far this winter has done what was expected. More updates to come! Until then…
