Warm dry midweek with late week storms

Discussion: High pressure will continue to build in today ushering in a much less humid airmass from now through the middle of the week. With a 500mb ridge anchored over the central USA, we’ll have to keep an eye on shortwave energy moving around its periphery into New England the first of which approaches on Friday. Expect scattered thunderstorms to develop, with continued warm and humid weather for the weekend.

Surface high pressure departs to our east on Thursday introducing a southwesterly flow. Heat and humidity will rebound Thursday night into Friday. Shortwave energy approaching late Friday and a low moving by just north of New England will eventually bringing a cold front through this weekend.
