Briefly cooler, warmth returns midweek.

Overall for a mid February pattern, this leaves little to be desire if you dislike Winter. Mild temperatures with a few days of sunshine and a couple rain chances.

Tonight – Tuesday: High pressure moving in from the west along with a cold front draped to the south of Long Island will keep cooler air in place through tomorrow. Temperatures will fall sharply tonight with clear skies and calm winds with lows in the mid 20s in most places. Tuesday will feature sunshine and temperatures struggling to reach 40ºF

Tuesday night – Wednesday: The high will shift to the south and east Tuesday evening while an area of low pressure tracks well north of the region from the US high plains towards the Canadian Hudson Bay.  Temperatures will not fall much Tuesday evening with clouds and milder air moving in. Scattered rain showers will develop late at night.

Wednesday – Friday: With a front stalling near or just south of the area, mild westerly flow will cause temperatures to surge well above normal Wednesday through the end of the week. Sun and clouds low 50s on Wednesday, low 60s Thursday and Friday.
