Sunday’s Forecast discussion

Discussion: A generally flat 500 mb pattern exists across the Eastern United States right now. Some weak ridging is evident over the southeastern states, while some more pronounced negative height anomalies are present over a broad area of eastern Canada. An intensifying shortwave trough over Ontario will move into New England on Tuesday. At the surface, high pressure is currently in control for much of the eastern US. A cold front will approach the region on Tuesday as an area of low pressure tries to develop well to our north and east. This front will become a focal point for shower and thunderstorm development Tuesday afternoon and evening. In the wake of the front, dry conditions, pleasant temperatures and sunny skies will return.
